Story of the Piece: Reefsong

Reefsong is the first reef glass-scape created by Michelle Blaesche-Lam, and remains one of her most personal works. Measuring 1200mm in diameter, the piece unfolds like a coral chorus — hand-placed glass stones swirl with current, while embedded coral, shell, and sand tell the stories of the reef.

Transparent fish forms hover like memories. Blue-toned shoals drift between them — delicate, deliberate, and alive. Each element has been chosen for its texture, tone, and meaning: beach-gathered fragments, reclaimed vintage plates, natural materials, and forgotten objects made whole again.

This is a piece about connection — to the sea, to healing, and to the stories we reclaim. Reefsong invites you to pause, trace its flow, and listen for the song beneath the surface.

Created with care and reverence, this piece is gifted with a part of the artist’s heart. It carries a story of transformation — of finding beauty in what is broken, and harmony in what has been reclaimed. To the collector, Reefsong offers not just a work of art, but a window into the emotional tides that shaped it.

May it bring you stillness, reflection, and a deepened sense of connection — to the ocean, to your own journey, and to the unseen currents that guide us.
